In 1927 it opened as the country’s first Ritz Carlton Hotel. In 2020 two premier hospitality companies, Highgate and Major Food Group, will reopen the building’s historic doors as The Newbury Boston.
Critically acclaimed interior designer, Alexandra Champlimaud, will lead the renovation of the hotel’s 286 guest rooms. The hotel will also reveal 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space and a 4,000 square foot rooftop and bar concept by Major Food Group. A number of the historic landmark’s original architectural elements will be incorporated into the redesign.
Situated on Newbury Street, Back Bay’s premier dining and shopping area, and across the way from the idyllic Boston Public Garden, the revitalized hotel will pay homage to its rich history while bringing a modern luxury to its guests and so will its uniforms.
